Tommy (Bolin) and I were born in the same month, in the same year, we were both Leos. It’s one of those things where… if anybody knows me or they’ve read anything about me or they’ve seen footage of me, I’ve never been so connected with any other player than Tommy. I’ve made a lot of friends in the music industry over the years… but we’re almost forty years since he’s passed and it’s like, for me, it’s… I… Tommy’s never really gone from me. He lives with me here, wherever I go, and I talk to him.

white-wolf-moon:

I ride, I ride the winds that bring the rain

A creature of love and I can’t be tamed
I want you, cause I’m gonna take your love from him
And I’ll touch your face and hot burning skin
No, he’ll never ever touch you like I do
So look in my eyes and burn alive the truth

I’m a wild child, come and love me
I want you
My heart’s in exile I need you to touch me
‘Cause I want what you do
I’m a wild child, come and love me
I want you
My heart’s in exile I need you to touch me
‘Cause I want what you do
I want you

Tell me, tell me the lies you’re telling him when you
Run away ’cause I wanna know
Cause I, I’m sure it’s killing him to find
That you run to me when he lets you go
‘Cause I’m burning, burning, burning up with fire
So – come turn me on and turn the flames up higher

I’m a wild child, come and love me
I want you
My heart’s in exile I need you to touch me
Cause I want what you do

I’m a wild child, come and love me
I want you
My heart’s in exile I need you to touch me
Cause I want what you do
I want you

A naked heat machine, I want your love
When the moons arise we’ll feel just what it does

I’m a wild child, come and love me
I want you
My heart’s in exile I need you to touch me
‘Cause I want what you do
I’m a wild child, come and love me
I want you
My heart’s in exile I need you to touch me
‘Cause I want what you do
I want you

Dokken is the band you listen to when you cut toxic ppl out of your life w/o feeling guilty about it

Dokken has a soundtrack for every situation in life. When I feel down I have “Stick to Your Guns” in my head. When I think about old rockstars that I can’t have I think of “In my Dreams”. I pretty often start to sing Dokken songs 😂😂😂 *into the fire I’m falling!!!*

Same!!!!! If I’m not singing Into The Fire, I’m singing Dream Warriors 😂😂😂😂

Alone again always strikes a chord with me too. Don’s performance of that song ❤️

Alone Again is a god-tier ballad!!!!!!!!

Don hit those high notes like an angel.

oh FUCK, y’all know what we really need???? An 80s metal& inspired fighting game. It would be in the art style of The King Of Fighters with fatality moves like Mortal Kombat. We’ll finally see the showdown we’ve all been waiting for: Vince Neil vs. Axl Rose. Don Dokken’s fatality move would be the Kiss Of Death. Randy Rhoads would shred until the opponent’s head exploded. Rob Halford enters the battle on a motorcycle like Lobo from Injustice. Fight Dave Mustaine against himself, and it pretty much becomes the “Sweating Bullets” video.

So in a way, it’s already better than Def Jam Icon.

GOLD!  I might not play it myself, not being a gamer, but I could see myself sitting up until 2:00 AM watching people play it in YouTube.  Oh, and George Lynch changes the physical property of things with his guitar solos (as explored in other conversations on another site), he also can smash through walls, Warren DeMartini can crash through ceilings for surprise attacks, Joe Elliott has that sword that turns into a guitar for Phil Collen to take, Steve Clark could make attacks with white lightening bolts from the guitar, Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs could whip up a hurricane to blow everyone away… (it’s a shame Boston is from the 70s, because their blue-fire shooting and blowing up guitar space ship would be so cool in that!)

(Hey, no need to apologize for strange ideas coming up as side effects -I’m not gonna find it weird when I had a dream with five 80s bands snowed in at a music festival in the mountains and going wild in the snow with each other -and wrote a story about it so I wouldn’t forget it!)

Your ideas are an awesome addition!!! Boston would be a great preorder bonus! 🙌🙌

Thing is… and I don’t know this first hand, so I’m going to have to assume my cousin’s husband was being truthful (I would at least suspect he was, considering he’s a computer guy) …there was a game back in the day where the Journey spaceship was fighting off attackers -so it’s not unheard of to have a game based off of bands (he joked he wished he could be one of the enemy ships, since he doesn’t like Journey XD).  Throw the Boston ship in with the Journey ship, Michael Schenker’s UFO, and maybe add the ELO ship in too -and have them come down into atmosphere to fight the Led Zeppelin (and whatever other bands from that time had forms of aircraft in their name, for that matter!), and it would be a solid precursor to the 80s (after all the ships crashed, the battle would have to become actual rock stars battling on foot!)  If anyone were to roll their eyes at the idea, it supposedly has been done before; therefore, it can be done again with massive improvement!

God, I need a Star Trek AU now where Steve Perry is the captain of the SS Journey, with Neal Schon as his firey second-in-command, and the rest of the band are their bridge crew.

A reader asked me recently about why, in my Deep Purple fics, I usually write from Ian’s POV.

To start with, I’m not sure I really favor his POV over anyone else’s; in “Life” he’s the central character and the fic couldn’t be told from anyone else’s POV and still make any sense. Putting aside my Mk .IV-era fics where Ian doesn’t appear as a character, we have “Cruces Fiction” in which Ritchie is the viewpoint character, and “Practical Magic” which switches between Ian and Ritchie’s POVs, and occasionally other character’s. That leaves only “Joyride”, “Rebels Without Applause”, and “Feliz Stalingrad” as DP fics from Ian’s viewpoint that I conceivably could’ve written to be from Ritchie’s viewpoint. “Joyride” wouldn’t work though, since the whole plot hinges on what Ian assumes about Ritchie, and that wouldn’t work from Ritchie’s POV (or, at least, I’d end up with a totally different fic from what I intended).

Ian is a fun POV to write from, because he’s so easy-going and so confident. He can be something of a monster – so can Ritchie, but Ritchie is the wolf you see coming, whereas Ian is the ravening wolf that comes disguised as this fantasy prince who seems like everything you ever dreamed of. Of the DP guys I write, he is probably the one least likely to second-guess himself, and when he looks back at his own behavior, Ian chuckles at his own misbehavior rather than feeling much regret. The others (at least the ones from who’s viewpoint I will write) all have some negative emotion tinging their narrative – Glenn maybe least of all, but even he has some arrogance and delusion that blind him to the tragedy his addictions are going to manifest in his life. David carries a deep well of hurt and longing around with him, Ritchie is sensitive and prickly and can’t bring himself to really trust anyone and at times he even resents his own inclination to compassion, and even Jon can’t stop himself from hurting people even though he wishes he didn’t.
